MCM 380 RIGID

The MCM 380 Rigid Hull Inflatable has been designed by Midcoast Marine from the first stroke of the pencil to the last.

The MCM 380 Rigid hull inflatable was designed from the experience and passion of Peter Hallett with consultation and workmanship of Ridman Setiawan. Ridwan, a talented Indonesian boat builder designer, who with Peter. meticulously created a 3D image which was sculptured and fine tuned from Peter's Surf rescue experience, into a craft which is truly unique and exceptional.

Although there are several brands and models of Surf Rescue craft in Australia, Peter Hallett believed there was room for one more. Peter’s desire to be unique and different is demonstrated by the innovative design of the MCM 380 Rigid Hull.

• The Composite core vacuum infused stepped hull concept eliminates proposing and reduces hull friction.
   
• Paraleil inline planing / lifting strakes reduce drag and assist with lift of the hull.
   
• Turning ability has been greatly improved (by rigid standards) by widening and adding depth to the hull incorporating lifting strakes and a planing plank.
   
• The hull incorporates progressive lift by the taper design , which enables an easier planing attitude. The transom is also different to the conventional with a vertical 90◦ portion to floor level then tapering to 8.5% degrees. This gives a slightly longer planing length, and assists with reducing water spray.
   
• The floor section incorporates a 15mm concave aspect to add greater strength and rigidity to the hull. Also water drainage is more effectively directed to the large self bailers in the transom.
   
• Pontoon diameter is approximately 435mm, and inside width is 760mm. The weight of the MCM 380 rigid is approximately 75kg. The black polyurethane handles and end cones are all newly designed components by Midcoast Marine.
   
• When entering the boat, the concave aspect of the floor in addition to the deeper grooves in the floor mat are intended to increase grip and provide a safer footing especially in unfavorable conditions for the crew.
   
• The colour of the MCM rigid is red with Yellow to signify Surf Rescue and promote greater visibility of the craft.
   
• Rigid Inflatables are a vital and integral part of Surf rescue operations in Australia.
