Depending upon your specific requirements and usage Peter Hallett, can design and make the right propeller guard for you. All propeller guards are made from 316L stainless steel.
In the marketplace, there are material alternatives, plastic, aluminum etc, but nothing is as strong as stainless steel. Propeller guards are designed around the level of protection you require. Level 1 is ring band only, level 2 has a ring band and 4 lateral vanes also known as the commercial guard this guard provides excellent protection and has a minor effect on performance loss. Level 3 is surf rescue style with up to 11 lateral vanes each side, and a wider ring band. Level 4 provides the maximum protection where there is the opportunity for propeller exposure, like “nosy” sea lions at sea world dolphin cove, where speed is not an issue, but maximum protection is paramount.
All guards at Midcoast Marine are hand built and designed to fit the exact make of motor, so all tolerances and clearances are in keeping with the shape of the gearbox.
